You don't have to adopt to save a life. Just open your door.

Fostering is the heartbeat of Phoebe's Promise Foundation. Every animal we bring from Vietnam needs a safe, loving home to heal in while we find their forever family.

We also place dogs locally through our partner Love and Second Chances Rescue at lovesecondchances.org — so you can make a difference right here in the Bay Area.

Fostering is temporary — but the impact is permanent.

Foster fail is real — and we celebrate every single one.

What Fosters Provide:

  • Safe, loving home environment

  • Food, water, and daily care

  • Basic socialization and training

  • Transportation to vet appointments

  • Photos and updates for social media

What We Provide:

  • 24/7 foster support

  • Help finding the perfect forever home

  • A community of fellow foster families

Is Fostering Right for You?

You might be a perfect foster if:

  • You love animals but aren't ready to adopt

  • You have a stable home environment

  • You have time and patience to help an animal heal

  • You're prepared to fall in love — and cheer them on when they find their forever home

These are some of my own personal foster dogs and senior babies I had the privilege of loving through Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. They inspired everything.

Theresa Burrill, Founder

🐾 Coco — a Chi Mix who was supposed to be temporary. Her foster family couldn't let her go. Now she lives happily with her forever family — the ultimate foster success story.

🐾 Sugar — our sweet Havanese mix happy-go-lucky girl who loved food and sleep. She taught us that joy comes in the simplest things.

🐾 Bartholomew Cubbins (Barto) — a little Shih Tzu mix who was just pure happiness in dog form.

🐾 Dot — our poodle mix who always looked like she was dressed for a night at the casino. Dot lived to approximately 17 years old — proof that senior dogs have so much love left to give.

Sugar, Barto, and Dot have since passed peacefully from old age — loved every single day until their last. This is what fostering means. Not just saving a life. Honoring it.
